Lee Piano Studio Policies for Adult Students June 2026–June 2027
The policy is strictly enforced and applies to all adult students studying piano at Lee Piano Studio.
Tuition and Payment:
Tuition reserves a lesson time specifically for a student and is non-refundable. Tuition is paid in 10 equal monthly payments due on the 15th of each month, starting August 15 through May 15. Payment received after the 15th incurs a $15 late fee. Tuition mailed to the studio at 26 Reynolds Farm Rd, New Milford, CT 06776, must arrive by the 15th of the month. Tuition may be raised periodically due to increases in the cost of living.
Monthly tuition fees: Private Lessons: 60 minutes: xx; 45 minutes: xx
A registration/materials fee of $90 reserves a student’s time in the teaching schedule and is non-refundable. Events sponsored by organizations outside the studio are not included in this fee. Checks should be made payable to Roxane Lee, and there is a $25 fee for returned checks.
Summer 2026 Lessons:
The summer session typically runs from June to August. This flexible policy allows students to pay for as many music lessons as they wish to take at the first lesson of the summer. Summer 2026 Tuition is $67.50 for 45 minutes and $90 for 60 minutes.
Schedule Changes:
For students enrolled in weekly lessons, rescheduling is only allowed if the teacher cancels. Students not enrolled in weekly lessons aren’t guaranteed the same day and time each week for their piano instruction.
Cancellations/Studio Closing:
Lessons rescheduled due to a teacher cancellation will be offered if an alternate time is available. Two alternate times will be proposed to students if the teacher must cancel. If those do not work, the lesson will be forfeited. Studio closings are listed in the studio calendar found at leepianostudio.com, which is subject to change and includes three weeks of unscheduled closings.
Performance Opportunities:
Informal performances and community concerts are open to all students, and memorization of pieces is not required. Formal performances are also open to students but require memorization of pieces.
Instrument/Accessories:
A student taking music lessons should practice on an acoustic piano tuned at least once a year. Practicing on a piano that is out of tune or in poor condition will hinder a student’s progress.
Students should have an adjustable bench, a working metronome, and a pedal extender if they are unable to reach the piano pedals. The teacher can be contacted for recommended models and sources.
Practice:
A student’s practice should focus on achieving specific goals. Daily practice equal to or longer than the student's lesson duration yields the best results. Students practicing less than the recommended amount can expect slower progress. It is the responsibility of the student to practice daily and effectively, which should include playing at a slow tempo, careful attention to detail, active listening, and self-assessment.
Teacher and Student Communication:
Studio communication is conducted via email, and students are encouraged to reach out if any questions arise during the week.
Student Attendance:
Students should arrive and depart from their lessons promptly. Please do not arrive more than five minutes before your scheduled lesson time. Lesson time begins and ends at the scheduled time, and if late, the lesson will still conclude at the scheduled time.
Studio Environment and Personal Hygiene:
Please remove your shoes and place them on the shoe tray inside the door. No food or beverages, including gum or candy, are allowed in the studio. Please refrain from wearing strongly scented perfume or cologne, as the teacher has allergies.
Students must have clean hands, and nails should be trimmed short; acrylic nails are not permitted. Hand sanitizer should be used before touching the piano and at the end of the lesson before exiting.
Dismissals:
The teacher may dismiss a student for reasons including but not limited to repeated violations of studio policy, excessive absences, lack of participation in studio events without notice, persistent late tuition payments, lack of progress due to inadequate practice, disrespect toward the teacher or fellow students, and abuse of studio property. Once dismissed, a student may not continue music lessons at Lee Piano Studio.
Termination of Lessons/Liability Waiver:
One month of paid notice is required if a student wishes to discontinue lessons. This notice must be made in writing and signed by a parent if the student is a minor. Lee Piano Studio and Roxane Lee are released from any liabilities or injuries resulting from the enrolled student participating in piano instruction, recitals, group classes, and events within and outside of the studio.
